Extra-Curricular Activities

  • The Seward Middle School students transferred books from the old library to the new library.
  • The Seward High Quiz Bowl team placed third at the Nebraska State Fair Contest.
  • The Seward high improvisational team won first place at the Nebraska State Fair competition.
  • Two members of the Improv team were recognized as outstanding actors at the State Fair competition.
  • One Seward High student was selected to play in the Masonic All-Star Marching Band.
  • Seward High School hosted its 10th annual Opening Night and Dessert Fest. The Seward Vocal Department and Friends of Coral Music performed.
  • Seward High FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, Key Club and Skills USA-VICA sponsored the fourth annual blood drive.
  • Seward High performed three one-act plays/musicals: “Isle of Dogs”, “Why Do We Laugh” and “Sputnik.”
  • The Seward Middle School student council donated money to the VFW for a flagpole at the new veteran’s memorial.
  • The Seward High FCCLA, Key Club, FBLA and FFA had a community food drive and donated the items to the Food Pantry and FoodNet. They collected more than 3,000 pounds of grocery items.
  • Four Seward High students were selected for the Nebraska All-State Chorus.
  • The Seward High one-act play “Isle of Dogs” won first place in district competition and advanced to state. Three Seward High students were selected as outstanding actors and actresses.
  • The Seward High one-act play “Isle of Dogs” earned third place at the state competition. One of the Seward High girls was selected as the Class B Outstanding Actress overall.
  • The Seward High FFA chapter donated $1, 650 to the Seward Memorial Library. The money was raised through pledges for the Broderick’s to run in a marathon.
  • The Seward High FFA chapter was recognized for their Model of Innovation award.
  • Two Middle School students placed first and second in the VFW essay contest.
  • The Seward High Key Club held its annual Multicultural Fair.
  • The Seward High Visual Ensemble finished first place at the HCGA 2004 Championships.

  • The Seward High Singers finished seventh of 23 at UNL, first place at UNO and Northwest Missouri State and received a gold trophy at the Nebraska Choral Directors competition and were the Northeast Community College Jazz Festival Grand Champions.
  • A Seward Middle School student won the Seward Rotary Club art contest.
  • The Seward High School music department presented three nearly sold-out nights of the musical “Godspell”.
  • The Seward High speech team had seven events qualify for the finals at District Competition. Four of those events advanced to the state competition.
  • Four Middle School students were winners in the American Mathematics Competition.
  • A Seward High senior earned Best in Show in his grade division at the GFWC district art show. His piece will go to state.
  • A Seward High School student won the Optimist Club Essay Contest. Two Seward High students were runner-up.
  • The Seward Middle School grade 6 was the top team in Division II at the Seward County Reading Classic. The Runner up in Division I was Seward Elementary grade 4.
  • The Seward High Key Club attended the District Convention. They were recognized as Distinguished Club-Diamond Level. This is the highest recognition available. The club received first place for their Single Service Project, first place for the Major Emphasis Program, first place for their scrapbook and were recognized for the most service hours in the district. Two members were recognized as Outstanding President and Outstanding Vice President, one member was awarded the District Scholarship and the governor of the district was recognized for doing an outstanding job.
  • Seward High was the Sweepstakes Trophy Winner for Swing/Jazz Choirs. Three members received solo certificates for their performance.
  • Two Foreign exchange students attended Seward High this school year.
  • Seventeen band and six vocal students from Seward Middle School were selected for the Meridian Honor Clinic.
  • The Seward High journalism class received second place in the Class Project Web Design Contest.
  • Seward High FFA had a pet extravaganza for the high school students.
  • Two Seward High students were selected as local and district speech finalists in the Optimist speech contest.
  • Two Seward High sophomores were selected as the 2003-2004 pilgrims and attended the annual pilgrimage at the State Capital.
  • The Seward High Key Club hosted the Senior Citizen Prom.
  • Six members of FCCLA received $100.00 scholarships from the STAR competition.
  • The Seward Middle School donated $250 to victims of the tornado in Hallam.
  • Seward High FCCLA donated $105 to Relay for Life.
  • Seward High School inducted 13 new members into its National Honor Society chapter.
  • The Seward High band was picked to play with Shania Twain at her concert in Omaha.
  • 90 students from Seward County attended M.A.S.H. Camp
  • Seward High students brought home 25 medals from SkillsUSA State championships.

 Athletics

  • A Seward High girls golf member set a new school record.
  • The Seward High softball team was runner-up at central conference.
  • The boys cross country team earned the conference championship.
  • The Seward boys cross country team won the district competition and sent six members to the state competition.
  • The Seward girls cross country team placed fourth at districts and sent four to the state competition.
  • The Seward boys cross-country team were runner up at the state competition.
  • Three Seward High softball players received Central Conference honors. One was chosen for first team and two for second team.
  • Eleven Seward High football players represented the 2003 all-district team. Eight players received honorable mention and three received first team honors.
  • Two Seward High volleyball players were named to the Central Conference second team and were also on the all-state honorable mention list.
  • The Seward High wrestlers were the District B-1 champions. They brought home 5 champions and one second place finish from district competition. Six team members advanced to the state competition.
  • Two Seward High wrestlers placed 5th and 6th at the state tournament.
  • The Seward High girls basketball team were runner-up at districts.
  • Three members of the girls basketball team were honored by the Central 10 Conference. One member was named to the first team and two members earned honorable mention.

  • The Seward High girls and boys track teams sent 13 members to the state track meet in 9 events.
  • The Seward High girls and boys track team brought home 7 medals from the state competition.
  • One member of the Seward High boys golf team advanced to the state competition.
