High School Highlights

December 12, 2005

Seward High School continues to emphasize our district slogan-"Every Student--Every Day--A Success--Seward." A staff development activity that was started during the 2004-05 school year was the formation of "Learning Teams". A Learning Team is a team of teachers who meet together to collaboratively learn, investigate, develop, and implement research-based practices.

The areas of study by our Learning Teams are: Personalizing the High School Experience, What a Diploma Means, Constituents, Instruction, College/Work ready, and Curriculum-Standards-Essential Learning. This in-depth study will continue into the fall of the 2005 school year and then make recommendations to the Seward Board of Education based on their findings.

A continued emphasis on best instructional practices by staff was made during the school year. a focus at Seward High School using best practices and the combination of the learning teams will allow us to continue to emphasize that the fundamental purpose of school is learning.

Seward High School once again experienced may accomplishments by students in the academic and activity areas. Our students continue to excel in the classroom as well as being competitive in all of their extracurricular programs.

We look to the future and anticipate continued success for our students as we all work on improving the educational process at Seward High School.
