Seward Alternative Education Center

Five years ago the Seward Alternative Education Center (SAEC) was developed to help selected students succeed in their goal of completing a high school education. The dedicated staff of SAEC has an encompassing goal of helping each individual student achieve success in self-respect, responsibility, and attaining those skills necessary to be a productive, contributing member of society.

SAEC has served approximately 27 students during the 2004-2005 school year. Of those 27 students, five have graduated, four have returned to the high school, five have transferred to another school district to complete their education, two have withdrawn, two middle school students were served during the course of the year and eleven are continuing their education.

The remaining students, in various situations, are using the A+ Learning System (a computerized system) and the Portable Assisted Study Sequence to complete classes toward graduation credit. SAEC will expect five graduations at upcoming School Board meetings through out this year. The School District of Seward is looking forward to serving additional students at SAEC in the coming year.
