Students Perform Well on Social Studies Standards

During the 2006-2007 school year, the social studies curriculum was evaluated and realigned with the state social studies standards. New materials were selected and classroom assessments were redesigned and evaluated to obtain data on how well our students perform on the state social studies standards.
The students in Seward are performing very well on the state standards and with the changes in realignment of the curriculum, we should see even greater percentages in the next few years. The table below illustrates the overall averages in grades 5, 8, & 11 and reflects the percentage of students at each of the proficiency levels on all standards.
| Grade Level | % Beginning | % Progressing | % Proficient | % Advanced | % Met Standard |
| 5th | 6 | 12 | 27 | 55 | 95 |
| 8th | 0 | 3 | 21 | 77 | 97 |
| 11th | 0 | 9 | 20 | 71 | 95 |
