7TH GRADERS GET STARTED WITH PILOT PROGRAM

The 7th graders at Seward Middle School are starting to get more involved with the career pilot project that is part of Nebraska Career Education. They all took the Clifton Youth Strengths Explorer assessment on January 15th and they are starting to get involved with the activities that are part of the program. The Strengths Explorer is an assessment that we are giving all of the 7th graders as part of this pilot program.

The results of the Strengths Explorer assessment will show the students their top three themes, which are descriptions of their areas of natural talent. Another part of the program involves Mr. Marroquin taking the students through some activities. These activities are designed to help the students find out more about their top themes and how they can use these themes to help discover and develop the unique talents that they all possess.

CAREER INFORMATION FOR 8TH GRADERS

I would like to remind the 8th grade students and parents that they have access to the Nebraska Career Connection site: www.nebraskacareerconnections.org. The students have a password and a user ID. This site provides you with a wealth of information involving college education and careers.

Parents should have received another publication from Education Quest Foundation around the holidays. This one is entitled EXPLORING CAREERS. It has a lot of information regarding careers and refers to Nebraska Career Connections and the Career Clusters. Again the information from Education Quest and Nebraska Career Connections is free of charge and it is there to help you with your career and post-secondary planning.
