Seward High Sophomore, Mandi Drohman, represented the school in the recent Poetry Out Loud state poetry recitation contest held Saturday, March 8 at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln.

After placing second statewide for the last two years, Lincoln Southeast’s Justin Tolston won the following his recitations of “Writ on the Steps of Puerto Rican Harlem” by Gregory Corso, “A Black Man Talks of Reaping” by Arna Bontemps and “Anabel Lee” by Egar Allan Poe.

Each student in the contest recited two poems in the initial round.  Following an evaluation by a panel of judges, five finalists were selected to recite one last poem prior to the selection of the statewide winner.
