SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL

A SMASH SUCCESS

By Leslie Stratton

March 30, 2008

Seward High School presented Seussical the Musical on March 14-16, 2008.  The show was a success with nearly 1200 people in attendance.

55 students made up the cast of Seuss characters.  These students were heavily involved in many activities.  There were soccer players, baseball players, golfers, tracksters as well as students on the speech team, swing choir and dance team.  These students were busy!

Musical sets were designed and built by the Intro to Musical Theater class.  They spent many weeks refining the design and painting them to help bring the magic of Dr. Seuss to the eyes as well as the ears.

The cast did a couple of promotions around the community.  Their first stop was Chapters Book Store where they read a Suess book and performed a portion of their show to the morning story time.  The cast then went to the Elementary School where they performed to the entire student body.  Since March was Dr. Seuss month, this was a great opportunity for all!

The cast would like to thank all who helped contribute to the success of the show.  This was one of those “special shows”.  Remember to keep “thinking those thinks” because “anything’s possible”.
