SHS Sophomores Attend the Annual Sophomore Pilgrimage in Lincoln

Four SHS Sophomores attended the recent, annual Sophomore Pilgrimage held in Lincoln at the Nebraska State Capitol. The event was sponsored by the GFWC Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs. Local ten graders attending included Stephanie Rippstein, Amber Topil, Titus Tvrdy and Katie Thrailkill. The adult sponsor for the event was Bonnie Kruse of the GFWC Seward Women’s Club.
The students met with the Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer and State Auditor. They watched the legislature in session, met with Senator Adams, toured the capitol and dined at the Governor’s Mansion. They also met with the Justices of the Supreme Court of Nebraska and toured the Court Chambers.
The students were funded by sponsorships presented by the GFWC Seward Women’s Club and GFWC Seward Junior Women’s Club. The students were selected last October from an application and inter view process, with three student judges from Concordia University.
