Jared S. Hans Selected April Youth Rotarian of the Month

Jared S. Hans, a senior at Seward High School, was selected the April Rotary Youth Rotarian of the Month by the Seward Rotary Club and honored at their monthly meeting held on Wednesday, April 28^th at the Jones National Bank and Trust Auditorium in their lower level.  Jared is the son of Lane and Nancy Hans of Seward and he plans to attend either Southeast Community College in Beatrice or Central Community College in Hastings to obtain a degree in Turf Management, with a minor  in Agronomy.  He eventually plans to become a golf course superintendent.

Jared has been involved in a variety of activities while at Seward High School, including a four year letterman in golf, membership in SHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCC) and the SHS Band.  His community service activities include volunteering for the annual “Bass Blast Off,”  the Kid’s Fishing Club and as an Outdoor Ed Counselor.

He has been employed at the Seward Country Club in Seward, Nebraska in both the kitchen and with the ground’s crew.  His employment also includes Rumery Sod, where he has mowed and removed snow.  He also has a mowing service and snow removal in the community.

Jared has assisted with the worship team in his church, worked the recent Valentine’s Day dinner and a host of other volunteer activities for his church.

He fulfilled his “Service Above Self” requirement attending  three mission trips to Cedar Rapids, South Dakota, Chicago, Illinois and Nashville, Tennessee.  He raised his own funds to finance his travel expenses for the volunteer effort in the other communities.

The Seward Rotary introduced Jared and presented him with a book scholarship, will honor him again at the approaching SHS Honors Night, presented his with a packet of Rotary information and he is a finalist for the Rotary “Service Above Self” scholarship.
