Monday, May 18th, fifteen Seward Middle School students each assumed the role of a distinguished person. The High Ability Learner (HAL) performers selected a famous, eminent person in whom they were interested and who has made or is making an important contribution to society. After extensive research, the students write a report, develop a display, dress in character, and perform a “bio-riddle” as the audience guesses their persona.
Juanita Hill coordinated the seventh and eight grade participants
and Angela Pfieffer supervised the fifth and sixth
graders.
HAL students are nominated by faculty and/or parents, must maintain
high grades, and score well on the Terra Nova test. The HAL
Leadership committee then determines if a student qualifies in a
specific subject area or multiple areas. Images of Greatness
is one project in which HAL students may participate. Connie
Biaggio is the Seward Schools HAL coordinator.
Students involved in Images of Greatness this year are:
Grade 5: Riley Lewis, Bryson Schluckebier, and Megan Runyan
Grade 6: Zach Marker and Adam Holtorf
Grade 7: Hayli Frosheiser, Liliana Gonzalez, Cailin ten
Bensel, Megan Hamling, Shelby Blecha, Emily Siebrandt, and Lauren
Walz
Grade 8: Erin Miller, Sarah Moody, and Arianna Bohning
