The freshmen football team had their first football game at home against Beatrice on Tuesday September 8th. Beatrice proved to be too much for Seward. The ball went back and forth between the teams in the first quarter but no one scored. Beatrice scored twice in the second quarter. The score at halftime was 14-0 in favor of Beatrice. Beatrice scored again in the third quarter and once more in the fourth quarter. The final score was Beatrice 28 Seward 0.
“It was a rough first game for us. We made a lot of mistakes, the positive is that the mistakes were mental not physical,” commented Coach Opfer.
“On defense we did good but Beatrice just made too many big plays,” said player Trey Barnes.
The freshmen football team’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd at Crete.
