High Schools Students Succeed at State Fair

This year at the Nebraska State Fair our High School had a number of students participate in a number of different events and competitions. Sierra Wignall won the Science Fair Division and Zach Bruick was the runner-up. Zach Bruick placed first in the Middle School History test with Sarah Moody coming in second. Andrew Sorenson was the runner up in the High School History test with Brock Lewis getting the fourth place spot. Andrew Sorenson also placed sixth overall in the Science test. Also, quiz bowl teams consisting of Sarah Moody, Emily Thrailkill, Zach Bruick, Sierra Wignall, Carl Heinicke, and Nathan Sorenson, got into the final rounds of their tourney. Other competitors included Alyssa Sleight, who was awarded an honorable mention in the high school spelling contest. Six other students also competed in a Shakespeare Monologue Contest and placed very high. These students included, Jillian Konsjord, Stephanie Rippstein, Bobbi Albrecht, Dayna Svboda, and Megan Lee. The speech team consisting of Kenny Stratton, Robby Kirkland, Jillian Konsjord, Dayna Svboda, Megan Lee, and Andrew Sorenson all ranked well in their events. Quiz bowl teams that made it to the finals were made up of Andrew Sorenson, Stephanie Rippstein, Katie Thrailkill, Titus Tvrdy, Thomas Bainter, Alex Koehler, Alyssa Sleight, CJ Johnson, Micah Moravec, and Shane Sloup. The sponsor and coach for these fine students was Clark Kolterman, and he was assisted by Helen Banzhaf.
