Seward Rotary Club Honors the New International Student at SHS

Katharina Knop of Berlin, Germany is the newest International Student at Seward High. The Seward Rotary Club honored her at their recent luncheon meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Jones National Bank and Trust in Seward. She was presented with a bag of mementos from the club. The bag included a Rotary banner, an American flag, and a book on the history of Seward and Seward County.
She is at the Junior level at SHS. Her parents are both Doctors in Germany – Dr. Michael Knop and Dr. Dorothee Knop and she has one younger brother Christopher – age 11 and two younger sisters – Theresa – age 11 and Franziska – age 10. Katharina is involved in volleyball and is a member of the SHS volleyball team. She as also selected for the one act cast for the play “Competition Piece” to be performed on November 10th at Seward High. Katharina also participates in the Drama class at Seward High and is enrolled as a full time student.
Katharina lives with Nathan and Amber Reed on 308th Road in rural Seward County, with the Reed’s two children, Adeline and Braxton. She plans to attend Seward High School through the school year next May. She was introduced to the club and she promised to return next May and present a program on her experiences while an exchange student at Seward High and in the Seward Community.
