The windy weather and frigid conditions didn’t prevent the Seward cross country teams from winning all of the boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity races at the Aquinas David City Invitational on September 28, 2009. “I was very impressed by the JV teams because nearly everyone set personal records,” Coach Holliday said.
In the boys’ race, Mark Wilcox was barely
edged out in the last yards to take 2nd place with a time of 17:54.
“Mark ran the best race of his career,” Holliday said. Ethan Damman
finished in 7th place, J.P. Rech in 9th place, and John Cahoon in
17th place. This led to the team winning the boys’ team trophy with
the score of 27 points. In the JV race, Crayton Noe finished in 4th
place, Brett Shaw in 7th place, Eric Ahrens in 10th place, and
Dario Gonzalez in 11th place.
Hannah Tvrdy was the top finisher in the
girls’ varsity race, finishing in 2nd place with a time of 15:15.
Kelsey Christensen was the next top finisher in 3rd place with a
time of 15:34. Natasha Mueller was out due to a foot injury. Liz
Damman then finished in 9th place. Jordan Seaman won the JV girls’
race with a time of 17:34, Megan Behlen finished in 2nd place, and
Michelle Ness was in 3rd place. “I feel cold and bad after running
my best race,” Ness said.

5, 2009 at Twin River and Conference is Thursday, October 8, 2009
