Seward High Speech Team Brings Home Seven Medal from Osceola Meet
Dayna Svoboda Captures First Place Medal in Serious Prose Presentation

Eleven members from the Seward High Speech team competed in the 13th annual Osceola Speech Meet at Osceola High on Saturday, January 30, 2010. The team competed in eight events and captured seven medals during the day. Dayna Svoboda won the first place medal in Serious Prose Literature. Stephanie Rippstein placed Fifth in Informative Speaking and Third in Persuasive Speaking. Lea Kayton place fifth in Persuasive speaking and was the top Novice Persuasive Speaker. Katie Thrailkill place sixth in Persuasive Speaking. Sarah Garbers placed sixth in Entertaining Speaking. All of the medalist received superior ratings. Each student presented three times with no finals round.

Clark Kolterman serves as the coach for the SHS Speech Team. Schools participating included Seward High, Twin River, St. Edward, Fullerton, Cross County, McCool Junction, High Plains, Lindsay Holy Family, East Butler, Cedar Rapids, Osceola, Newman Grove, Friend, Sutton and Shelby.
