Seward JV Falls to Columbus

Seward played Columbus in JV football, and the game did not go in Seward’s favor, the Jays lost 20-0. Due to the number of players available, and a scheduling situation, some freshmen were brought up to play alongside the JV players. Freshmen quarterback Matt Krause, tackle Justin Cordle, and linebacker Trey Barnes were the freshmen to move up.
Seward had some unfortunate turnovers that set up scores for Columbus. Also, the JV squad only had sixteen players, so Seward was bound to get tired during the game.
“Our defense played hard, but we had many players playing in unfamiliar positions,” said Coach Bob Elwell.
Good plays by Matt DeGarmo, Robbie Kirkland, Matt Krause, Dusty Winchester, and Dillion Wasser kept Seward in the game. The Jays are looking to learn from this loss, and go after Beatrice in their next JV football game.
