Nicole Canning is April Fine Arts Youth of the Month for SHS
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe SHS Fine Arts Student of the Month is SHS Senior, Nicole Canning.She is the daughter of Lori Canning of Seward and Greg Canning of Seward.
She has been a member of the SHS Swing Choir since 2010 and one of the choreographers the last two years.She also was in every musical since 2010 and enjoyed a variety of roles.She has also been part of the SHS Select Choir and the Seward Summer Chamber Choir from 2012 through this year and selected for the annual Concordia University Honor Choir both in 2012 and 2013.
Nicole was involved in the SHS One Acts since 2011 and was recognized twice with Outstanding Acting Awards at Conference and District levels.She was a member of the 2012 Speech team and participated in the Optimist Speech Contest at the District Level, the VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest, Poetry Out Loud and the Governor’s Speech Contest.
She was a member of the SHS Marching Band since 2010 and elected a Band Section Leader for the Marching Band and participated in the SHS PEP Band as well.
In the community, Nicole has been part of the local dance program since she was three years old and involved in piano since the age of nine.’
She was involved with a lead role in the recent July 4 week-end CASA Melodrama to raise funds for the CSAA program and was selected the Nebraska Draft Horse Queen for both 2012 and 2013.
She plans to attend Northwest Missouri State and major in education, with a minor in music.
