SHS Senior, Cale Miller is the Youth Rotarian of the Month
Launch the media gallery 1 playerSeward High Senior, Cale Miller, was honored on Wednesday, May 7th at the Seward Rotary Club meeting as the May Youth Rotarian of the Month.He is the son of Amy and Robert Miller of Seward.Cale was introduced and honored, presented with some Rotary Club mementos and awarded a book scholarship.He will be honored again at the annual SHS Honors Night, along with the other 2013-14 Seward Youth Rotarians of the Month.
Cale is a very talented young adult, involved in a host of activities at SHS.He is a member of the SHS National Honor Society and always on the SHS Honor Roll. He was recently named an SHS Student of the Month as well.
Cale is a longtime member of the SHS Marching Band.He is an active member of the famous, SHS Drum Line Corps, the SHS Pep Band, the SHS Symphonic Band and has been a member of the SHS Swing Choir.He was also involved in the SHS musicals.
He has been the local, SKILLS USA Chapter President and served as a SKILLS USA State Officer, serving as the State SKILLS USA President.He has been involved in a host of competitions in SKILLS USA and participated in the Architectural Drafting programs though SKILLS USA.He won the SKILLS USA Extemporaneous Speaking contest at State and placed the architectural drafting contests.
Cale is involved and a leader in the SHS Cross Country team and the SHS Soccer team as well.He is a longtime member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes too.He participated in the VFW Speech Contest as well.
Cale is an involved member of the Seward United Methodist Church, participating in the Bell Choir, the Godparent program, and various Mission trips involving the church.He works in the fields in the summer every summer to supplement his expenses during the school year.
Cale has given “Service Above Self” through his service projects with SKILLS USA and participated in two mission trips and plans to attend another mission trip this summer.
He plans to attend UNL this fall and major in architecture.
Cale and the other nine Youth Rotarians of the Month will be honored at the annual SHS Honors Night and each presented with a book scholarship. One of the students will also be named the recipient of the “Service Above Self-Youth Rotarian of the Year” award and scholarship at that awards ceremony.
