Angel Roth Named Youth Rotarian of the Month for October-2014

Angel Roth was named the October Youth Rotarian of the Month for October by the Seward Rotary Club at their weekly Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, October 08, 2014 at noon at the Jones National Bank and Trust of Seward auditorium.  She was introduced, and recognized for her academic achievements, involvement in school and her “Service Above Self” work ethic and activities serving others.  She was awarded a Rotary Club book scholarship and is a finalist for the Seward Youth Rotarian of the Year scholarship. She will be again recognized and honored at the annual Spring SHS Honors night with the other Youth Rotarians in May.  She is the daughter of Kraig and Pam Roth of rural Seward.

Angel is involved in activities at SHS.  She is a member and leader of the SHS Girls Cross Country Team-member of the State Championship team in 2012, SHS Girls Track team-State medalist and SHS Basketball team.  She participated in volleyball and was a Central Conference and NCPA Academic All State recipient.  She has lettered in Cross Country, Track and Basketball.

She is an officer/ leader in the local FFA Chapter-serving as an officer for two years, and the recipient of the FFA Chapter Degree award, participating in the FFA Leadership Skills Event and various FFA service activities.

She is a member of the SHS Honor Roll, and SHS National Honor Society and has continued to achieve a 4.0 grade point average and one of the top students in her class academically.  Angel is involved in Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the SHS Musical.  She was a class officer, a member of SHS Select Choir, and SHS Circle of Friends.  Angel was selected as the NSAA “Believers and Achievers” Seward Representative.

She is very active in her church and church youth group.  She has served as an outdoor education counselor and volunteered at the Peoples City Mission.

Angel has long been involved and employed with the family dairy operation-assisting in milking the cows, cleaning the barn and laying irrigation pipe.  She  was also employed in the fields in the summer, working for Illinois Seed Foundation in the area of pollination and she enjoys babysitting for families during the summer months.

Her work in “Service Above Self” involved her many participating mission trips with her church to Phoenix AZ, St. Louis, MO,  Detroit, MI and to Oklahoma City, OK in service to others-assisting the poor and underprivileged.  She is a positive influence as well with her teammates with her various activities and athletic pursuits. 

After high school, she plans to study nursing and is currently obtaining her CNA license.   She may attend Oklahoma Wesleyan University or Morningside College.

 

The Seward Rotary Club honors a student leader every month with the Youth Rotarian of the Month award, presenting each with a book scholarship and recognizing one as the Youth Rotarian of the Year honor each spring.  Applications are available in the counselor’s office or in the SHS eBackpack file online.
