Adam Holdorf Named March Youth Rotarian of the Month by Seward Rotary

The last time Adam Holdorf visited the Seward Rotary Club was when he was crowned the 2007 Mr. Firecracker by the Seward Rotary and read is essay “Why I like to live in Seward” to the membership.  Adam was again honored by the Seward Rotary Club on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at their weekly Rotary Club meeting at the Jones National Bank and Trust Auditorium, this time recognized as the March Youth Rotarian of the Month by the Seward Rotary Club.  Adam is the son of Dr. Paul and Diane Holdorf of Seward.  He was introduced to the membership, recognized for his academic success, leadership effort and extracurricular involvement at Seward High and presented with a Rotary banner and club mementos.  Adam received a book scholarship and his name was placed in nomination for the Seward Rotary Youth Rotarian of the Year award.

Adam excels academically and is a classroom leader at SHS with a 4.0 grade point average.  He has been a member of the SHS Honor Roll for the last ten consecutive terms.  He is a leader in the SHS National Honor Society and has been recognized for his academic excellence as a athlete numerous times-including the NSAA Academic All State in football, basketball and track and Lincoln Journal and World Herald Academic All-State awards for his academic leadership during football season.

Adam is a leader with his various athletic endeavors as well.  He has been a four year starter on the SHS Football team, and lettered all four years.  He has been awarded many honors for his football excellence and ability including selection for the annual Shrine Bowl game this summer and 2014 All Nebraska Super State D-Line and the Lincoln Journal 2014 Class B All State, Class B Captain.  He was recruited by various D-1 level football programs and has been awarded a full scholarship with the Kansas State Football program.

In the area of Basketball, Adam was a varsity starter for three years, three year letterman and awarded numerous leadership awards for his basketball work ethic.  Track awards also included letterman awards for 2013 and 1014 as well and recognitions for his strong leader abilities involving the track team.

Adam is an active member of the SHS FFA and has served as the Chapter Treasurer and currently serves as a Vice President for the Chapter.  He has been involved in various Career Development activities for the chapter.  He is also an active member of the SHS Future Business Leaders of America and has held membership in the SHS Key Club as well.  Adam participated in the Marching Band program at SHS as well!

Adam has been involved in a variety of programs working with the Seward Recreation Program as a referee in their basketball program, football program and baseball.  He has been a longtime member of the Seward baseball summer programs-most recently as a member of the Seward Jr. Legion Team.

Adam is a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and involved in the St. John Youth program, an active member of the St. John Godparent program and attended various activities, such as the National Youth Gathering, representing St. John Youth.  

His summers include working as a detasseler and field worker for the Sloup /Thorell Detasseling Company and attending various sports camps.

Adam’s “Service Above Self” award fulfillment for Youth Rotarian of the Month point to his various volunteer service hours assisting youth in the various Seward Recreation sports programs and his numerous service activities through the SHS FFA Chapter. 

He plans to attend Kansas State University in some area of Agriculture studies to be determined.

The Seward Youth Rotarian Award is presented monthly and nomination applications are available in the SHS Counselor’s office.  The award is presented ten months of the year to outstanding seniors at SHS from August through May.  The students each receive a Rotary book scholarship and will be recognized at a local Rotary meeting and again at the SHS Honors Night in May, where the Seward Rotary Club announces the Youth Rotarian of the Year!
