Haley Newburn Selected March Fine Arts Youth of the Month
SHS Senior, Haley Newburn has been selected the March Fine Arts Youth of the Month.
Haley has been a member of the SHS Choir and Select Choir for all four years, as well as a member of the SHS Swing Choir for three years, serving as one of the choreographers her senior year. She has been very involved in the SHS musicals each of her years at Seward High, often with roles involving dance routines.
She has been a member of the SHS Marching Bluejay Band for four years, serving as a section leader and two years as Drum Major. She participated in the Percussion Ensemble and the Jazz Band as well.
She was involved in the SHS One Acts for two years and also participated in the VFW Voice of Democracy Speech contest her Sophomore year.
She is extensively active with the Seward County 4-H program, serving as Vice President, Reporter, Secretary and Historian of her 4-H Club and has spent eight years showing horses at the County Fair and State Fair Horse Shows.
Haley’s real love involves dance and she has been involved in dance for 14 years, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Point at Shelly’s School of Dance. She was selected and danced as Aurora in last year’s production of Sleeping Beauty. Haley continues to participate with the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company’s Nutcracker production for the last three years and was also involved with their production of Cinderella.
She is the daughter of Dr. Hank and Shannon Newburn of Seward. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the Pre-Health program.
