Shelby Todd Named December Fine Arts Youth of the Month

SHS Senior, Shelby Todd was named the December Fine Arts Youth of the Month.  She is the daughter of Lance and Lori Todd of Staplehurst.  She has been a very involved student at SHS, especially in the area of Fine Arts.

Shelby has been a four year member of the SHS Swing Choir, and involved in the SHS musical with major roles for the last four years.  She has also been a member of the SHS Select Choir for all four years of High School and often called upon to present solos-especially with her original music.  She enjoys writing and presenting her original songs, especially with her sister.  She has won many awards with her music, both at the District level –capturing all Superior ratings and with a variety of area talent shows-including Galaxy of the Stars Talent Search.

Shelby has been involved in the One Act plays at Seward High.

She is very involved in the Fine Arts aspects of her worship life and church and part of her church’s worship team every Sunday, involved in Bible Study and a voice of the youth for her church.  She is very involved in her community, working with a host of local activities from the Halloween party to the various Christmas activities. 

She is a leader in the SHS National Honor Society and was named “Best Musician of her Senior Class-2017!  She also won the Elks Outstanding Student Leadership Award.

She is the current Vice-President for Key Club, a leader in the Student Council and was Class President her Junior Year.

“Shelby is one of the real senior leaders in our vocal music department and we are proud of her musical talents,” stated Leslie Stratton –SHS Choral Director.  “Her creative talent exemplifies all the positives that our Fine Arts program offers and we know she will have success in the future.”
