Seward High Students Participate in CU Speech Workshop-2016

Seven students from SHS participated in the recent CU Speech Workshop at the Thom Leadership Education Center on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.  The program was directed by Andrew Moffitt II, the Director of Forensics at Concordia University and was presented to assist them in preparation for their speech season.  The entire event was free to all participating students as a service of the CU Forensic’s program and CU Forensics Team.  Over 50 high school competitive speech students from across Nebraska participated in the event.

Attending from Seward were Nana Abenaa Wright, Kenna Gottschalk, Tirey Bearup, Greta Hughes, Katryna Rukas, Bailey Mooney and John Meyer.  The SHS Coach/Sponsor for Seward’s students is Clark Kolterman.

The morning session was split into tracks between the novice and varsity levels.  They focused on the fundamentals for speech and assisted with the development of each student’s programs.  The coaches also met in conference to share and gather ideas and exchange information with each other.

A complimentary lunch was presented to each student participating in the program, compliments of the CU Admissions office.

The day was completed with student presentations, where constructive critiques were offered by members of the CU Forensics team.
