Corbin Ruth Named February Youth Rotarian of the Month
Corbin Ruth, SHS Senior, is named the February Seward Rotary Club Youth Rotarian of the Month. He is the son of Royce and Jennifer Ruth and they live near Malcolm. Corbin was introduced at the February 1st meeting of the Seward Rotary Club at the Jones National Bank and Trust auditorium at their noon luncheon. Corbin was presented with Rotary Club mementos, a Rotary Banner and a Rotary Club Book Scholarship.
Corbin is a scholar/athlete at Seward High School. He is a longtime member and leader of the Seward High National Honor Society and always on the Academic Honor Roll. Corbin has also received the NSAA Academic All State Honor in previous years for being an athlete with a high grade point average.
Corbin is very involved in the various athletic programs at Seward High School. He was a member of the Varsity Football team and letterman, with numerous honors and awards from his work and leadership on the SHS Football team. He is also a four year member of the Seward High Varsity Basketball program, as well as a three year member of the SHS Baseball team to date-also generating awards, honors and recognitions for his efforts in both the Basketball and Baseball programs.
Corbin is an active member and leader in the Seward High Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and currently serves as the FBLA Vice President. He participated in the Seward VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest through the SHS Speech program.
Corbin is an active member of the North American Martyrs Church and very involved in the North American Martyrs God Teen Program. He also is often called upon to be the voice of the youth in his church.
Corbin is also involved in a variety of baseball programs during the summer months.
His volunteer efforts and “Service Above Self” activities involve and revolve around serving and working with young children in a variety of sports camps for football, baseball and youth basketball. He has also be a loyal volunteer for the annual March of Dimes program and various concession stand operations.
After high school, Corbin plans to attend Northwestern Missouri State and has committed to being part of their successful football program, with an undecided major at this time.
Corbin is now a finalist for the Seward Rotary Club Youth Rotarian of the Year award and will be recognized and thanked again at the SHS Honors Night in May. Applications for the monthly award are available at the SHS Counselors office. One student is selected and honored each month by the Seward Rotary Club.
