Hannah Core Named April’s Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month

Hannah Core, SHS Senior, was named the April Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month and recognized at the Seward Youth Rotary Club meeting on April 5, 2017 at the Jones National Bank and Trust in Seward.  She is the daughter of Robert and Tiffany Core of Seward.  She was introduced, recognized and presented with a Seward Rotary Club banner and mementos and a Rotary Book Scholarship.  She is also a finalist for the Seward Rotary Club “Service Above Self” Scholarship announced on Honors Night in May at the High School.

Hannah is a scholar/athlete at SHS.  She has been an involved leader on the SHS Softball team for four years, a loyal and strong leader on the Girl’s Basketball team all four years of her high school career and a major player all four years with the SHS Girl’s Soccer team as well!  She has received numerous honors and recognitions for her leadership, courage and skill on each of the athletic teams, as well as for her academic leadership as a athlete.

Hannah is a three year member of the SHS National Honor Society and always on the SHS Honor Roll as well.  She has been named the SHS Student of the Month and received numerous PRIDE awards.

Hannah is a longtime leader in the SHS Family, Community, Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) and has been a member all four years of her high school career.  She also has been involved in the SHS Key Club and the SHS FFA!  Hannah has been involved with the Circle of Friends and works as a mentor as well.

She has taken on several summer jobs including working for Syngenta Pollinating for two summers, detasseling for Sloup/Throell for a year and a Lifeguard at the Seward Memorial Pool for the last three summers. 

She attends Seward United Methodist Church and is an involved member of her Godparent group with the church and a voice of the youth in her congregation. 

Her “Service Above Self” recognition includes working the “Little Kid’s” Recreation program for the City of Seward, volunteers as a basketball coach and working with the “Little Kid’s” wrestling and soccer programs, as well as a ref for their flag football games!  She has also devoted hours to assisting with the area Special Olympics Softball team. 

Hannah plans to attend Doane University, play on the basketball team and become an elementary education major.
