Oglevie First Place in Short Story Contest
SHS Senior, Makayla Oglevie's Short Story "The Window" was named First Place/ Champion in the annual national Bess Streeter Aldrich High School Short Story Contest! She was recognized and honored at the Annual Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation dinner at Elmwood on April 7, 2018.
She was presented Signed Certificate of Recognition, cash scholarship and an Anthology of the winning story! She also was invited to read a part of her story to the "standing room only" audience! Actress Pippa White presented her Orphan Train program to the group!
Makayla plans to attend Seward Concordia University in the area of Art Therapy!
Also attending the banquet was her Mother and teacher Clark Kolterman.
Bess Streeter Aldrich is considered on of Nebraska's premier authors-and known for her success writing Short Stories! Her most famous novel is "A Lantern in Her Hand!"
