Two Optimist State Speech Champions - both from Seward High!
Launch the media gallery 1 playerSHS Sophomore Madalyn Lobmeyer was selected First Place in the Girls Division at the State Optimist Speech Contest and then won the Sweepstakes Award-a trip to nationals at St Louis! SHS Senior Evan Nottingham won the Boys Division- with each student winning a $2500 scholarship! They were sponsored by the Seward Optimist Club! The contest was held at Grand Island North West High! SHS Freshman Alex Sick was selected third place and won $250! She was sponsored by Lincoln Evening Optimist! The theme was "Where are my roots of optimism?" Their speech coaches are Melissa Pohl and Clark Kolterman! Seward Optimist President Lana Urban also attended the contest! Each student wrote and memorized their five minute speech!
