Breakfast with Santa a Success-Co Sponsored by the Seward Rotary Club and SHS FCCLA - 2022

The annual Seward High FCCLA’s and Rotary Club’s Breakfast with Santa was a success, with a basement full children and families in attendance for the holiday festivities at the Seward Civic Center on Saturday, December 17th, 2022.  The Seward Rotary Club hosted the area residents with a breakfast of donuts, fruit, candy, juice and milk.  They were assisted by members of the Seward High Family Community Career Leaders of America Chapter (FCCLA).

Featured entertainment was group singing led by Seward Rotary member Clark Kolterman-who also served as the Emcee for the program. “FCCLA Mom’s” Amy Metschke and Tina Marroquin served as cashiers for the event.

Many prizes were shared through a drawing for all present and the high light of the event was a visit from Santa Claus.  Guests with December birthdays and out of town guests were also recognized and honored with gifts from the Seward Rotary Club.  All the very young babies “won” a special Christmas book, promoting The Seward Rotary Literacy Campaign.

As a special treat, the Seward Model Train Club set up hundreds of feet of train tracks in a model setting for the event, and the children enjoyed the action display while waiting to see and visit with Santa.  Gary Rolf, with the Seward Model Train Club shared information on the display and spoke on the club’s activities.  SHS FCCLA Vice President Julya Metschke shared with the group as to the goals and projects of the local SHS FCCLA Chapter.

FCCLA Alum, Riley Nuttleman, coordinated the ticket drawings.   Rotarian Greg Zabka called the North Pole and made sure Santa could attend the breakfast, coordinating the visit.  Julya Metschke and Riley Nuttleman assisted with the door prize drawings.  FCCLA members Molly Marroquin, Julya Metschke, Adya Metschke, Holli Waller, Taelyn Bianco, Adalya Metschke and Natalie Axt volunteered to distribute the food stuffs for the SHS FCCLA/Rotary Club’s Breakfast.

The Rotary Club sponsored many giveaway prizes to promote literacy, with the giving of a variety of Christmas books and books with Christmas themes.  They also gave away in drawings, special, and Christmas themed stuffed animals.  The final drawing was for a special “stuffed” giant Christmas bear-won by 14 month old Ezra Greenstreet!

SHS FCCLA members assisted in serving the treats at the annual Seward Breakfast with Santa and assisted with preparation and the clean-process with the Rotarians.
