Kennedy Dominy Selected as a Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month

At its September 30, 2026 club meeting, the Seward Rotary Club recognized Seward High School senior Kennedy Dominy as the September Youth Rotarian of the Month. Kennedy is the daughter of Matt and Jessica Dominy. Youth Rotarians of the Month are selected based on their service, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship efforts during high school. They receive a book scholarship for college and a bag of information about Seward. Monthly Youth Rotarians are also finalists for the Seward Youth Rotarian of the Year award which will be presented at the annual SHS Honors Night in May.

Kennedy is an excellent student, carrying a 3.6 GPA, being on the honor roll, completing two AP courses, and planning to graduate with more than 30 college credits. She competed on the school’s Nebraska Stock Market Game team, is a member of Educators Rising, and has been part of FBLA for four years.

In addition to her academic excellence, Kennedy is also an accomplished athlete. She is a four-year school volleyball player and letter winner; and a one-year basketball player. She has competed in club volleyball for six years and previously competed in club basketball for two years. She is also a three-year member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Kennedy is committed to using her skills and knowledge in service to her school and community. She is a Bluejay mentor for Junior Jays. Kennedy also has assisted with youth volleyball camps, sorted donations for a homeless shelter, volunteered in the Seward community clean-up day, helped with fish fry events at her church - St. Vincent DePaul, and helped sort gifts for Rotary’s Stuff the Cruiser program. Kennedy describes serving others in the community and on her sports teams by thinking about what’s best for the community or team ahead of what’s best for her. She says, “Communities are stronger when the needs of others outweigh the wants of one.”

In addition to her exemplary efforts as a student, athlete, and servant leader, Kennedy has also committed to being active in our local workforce. She is a customer service representative at Sips Dirty Soda, babysits, and has served as a referee and concession stand worker with Nebraska ONE Volleyball Club.

Kennedy is still finalizing her college selection between Wayne State and the University of Nebraska - Omaha and plans to major in Elementary Education wherever she goes.

The Seward Rotary Club wishes the best to Kennedy and all area seniors; and the club encourages each of them to embrace opportunities to serve others locally and around the world with their specific gifts and interests.
