Delainy Baker is September Fine Arts Youth of the Month

SHS Senior, Delainy Baker is the September Seward High Fine Arts Youth of the Month.  She is the daughter of Brett and Noelle Baker of Seward.  Delainy is involved in a host of Fine Arts activities in the school and community of Seward. 

Her Fine Arts activities include being elected class president her sophomore, junior and senior year.  She is a longtime member of the SHS National Honor Society, always on the SHS Honor Roll and was the HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Leadership) representative for SHS.  She is an SHS Student Ambassador, a member of the School Improvement Committee and was an Outdoor Education Counselor.   

Delainy is a four year member of the SHS Concert Select Choir and four year member of the Swing Choir.  She has enjoyed a lead in the SHS musical as well.  She participated in the VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest and was a member of the SHS Speech Team.  She is a long time, involved member of the SHS FFA and has been a member of the SHS Key Club as well.

She was named SHS Student of the Month and won the State Fair Penmanship and Poetry Contests.

Delainy has almost 200 hours devoted to volunteer/community service activities in the school and community.  She plans to be neonatologist and attend a medical school, after attending a four year college, hoping to eventually becoming involved in neonatology.
