SHS Junior, Thomas Bosmeniel Named American Legion Speech Contest State Finalist

SHS Junior, Thomas Bosmeniel of Ulysses, was named the American Legion Area C Regional Winner in the American Legion Area C Regional Oratorical Contest on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Wilber American Legion Post home in Wilber, Ne at 10 AM.  The contest featured the winners from the four Districts in the region and one was going to be selected to represent the Region at the State Contest in January.

Thomas represented Seward American Legion Post #33 and the American Legion District #12.  He wrote, memorized and presented a ten minute speech on the US Constitution-“The US Constitution- Foundation of America” and then drew the Seventh Amendment and spoke extemporaneously on the Seventh Amendment with a five minute speech.

He was selected the winner and received a $100 Scholarship from the District and a First Place trophy, First Place medal and Certificate of Honor.  He will now be one of four competing at the State Level for the opportunity to represent Nebraska at the National Contest in Washington, DC, along with additional scholarships and awards.  He was presented his awards by Gary Wooten, Area C Vice-Commander.
