8th Grade

In Reading the students explore a variety of units including short stories, grammar, and novels by a variety of authors. Math courses range from Pre-Algebra to Algebra. In science, the students explore a variety of topics in the Earth science field. The students apply science concepts to the world around them as we prepare for our high school journey. The Social Studies curriculum explores American History ranging from the post Civil War era to the present. In addition, economics concepts and current events are incorporated into the curriculum. State Standards Assessments are administered in Reading, Math, and Science. 


During the first semester of the 8th grade year, the students take Writing, where they master the writing process while writing in different genres. Grammar, vocabulary, and other writing concepts are emphasized. The students then take Spanish during second semester, where they receive a foundation in basic vocabulary and fluency in preparation for High School level Spanish courses.
