Seward High School 2008 One Act Play “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder Places Third at the NSAA B-3 District Contest, with Three Superior Ratings and Five Outstanding Actors!
The Seward High 2008 competition One Act Play “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder placed Third overall at the recent NSAA B-3 District One Act Play Production Contest held at Seward High School on Friday, December 5, 2008 all day, beginning at 9:00 am. The show was presented with three superior ratings and five students were recognized with certificates for “Outstanding Actors” awards. Recognized as District Outstanding Actors were Nathan Broeker, Robert Kolterman, Stephanie Rippstein, Megan Lee and Kenny Stratton. Clark Kolterman is the director of the play. The Seward One Act program is underwritten by the School District of Seward and the Seward High Boosters Club.
Judges for the contest included Laurie Hinz, Gaylia Ocklander and Gailen Volquardsen. Fillmore Central High School in Geneva won the B-3 District One Acts with their show “Grimm Fair Tails” and will represent the District at the State One Act/Play Production contest in Kearney. Waverly High School was first runner-up presenting “The Bible in 30 Minutes.” Seward was third with “Our Town,” followed by Centennial-Fourth with “Thank You for Flushing My Head in the Toilet and Other Rarely Used Expressions,” Norris won Fifth with “The Quiet Place,” Milford was Sixth with “ Dinner with the McGuffins,” Raymond Central was Seventh with “The Ever After,” and Crete was Eight Place with “Shady Meadows.”
The contest was coordinated by SHS Athletic/Activities Director Steve Borer and SHS Speech/Drama Coach Clark Kolterman. Volunteers assisting were from the SHS Advanced Speech Class, the SHS One Act Cast and the SHS Theater Class. The Seward High Music Boosters hosted a concession stand throughout the day to serve the students in the contests.
