Launch the media gallery 1 playerWelcome to second grade! Second grade is a year of highly visible progress in all subject areas. Students are strengthening their academic skills and at the same time increasing their independent skills.
Concepts that are emphasized in second grade:
Math (enVision math 2.0): number sense, place value, geometry, money, 2 & 3-digit addition and subtraction, addition and subtraction strategies, time, measurement, fractions, and an introduction to multiplication and division.
Reading (Reading Street Curriculum): reading with expression, becoming more of a fluent reader, summarizing a story with details, using context clues within text, exposing students to different types of genres and how to use a dictionary.
Science & Social Studies (National Geographic Curriculum): Habitats, Properties, Types of Matter, Land & Water, Communities, and Citizenship.
