Village at Heartland Park Gazebo is Built by SHS Building and Trades Class
The Seward High School Building and Trades class, taught by Roy Wright, has begun the construction and building of the new gazebo for the Village at Heartland Park new development of the eight duplexes. The class has volunteered to build a gazebo for the park area that is located in the center of the development. The SHS Horticulture Class, taught by Jack Broderick has agreed to assist with the landscaping for the park, along with the local, SHS FFA Chapter directed by Jack Broderick and the SHS Family, Career, Community Leaders Chapter (FCCLA) directed by Linda Zimbelmann. The landscaping will be completed in the spring of 2011. Funding for the project was donated by Excel Development Group.
The SHS Building and Trades class began building the gazebo this fall and will place it upon completion of the park in 2011.
The SHS volunteer involvement in this housing project assists in aspect of the volunteer effort into the project, which is one of the requirements for the funding grant. The project is being coordinated by the Seward County Housing Corporation (SCHC) under the leadership of John Blomenberg of the Jones National Bank and Trust.
This is phase two of a special housing project for area senior citizens with limited income, offering affordable duplex townhouses with two and three bedroom units. The Excel Development Group is coordinating the project with the SCHC.
