Kelsey Christensen is the December Youth Rotarian of the Month
SHS Senior, Kelsey Christiansen is the December Youth Rotarian of the Month. She was honored at the December 22nd luncheon meeting and presented with a Rotary Banner, Rotary Club information and mementos. She will receive a book scholarship from the Rotary Club sponsored Brad and Sue Bowen and Deb and Billy Snell. She is the daughter of Julianne and Andrew Christensen of Seward.
Kelsey is an outstanding champion athlete, leader and a four year member of the SHS Girls Cross Country team, a four year leading member of the SHS Track and Field team and involved in the SHS Indoor Soccer program.
She is a three year member of the SHS Dance Team and participated in the SHS Musical. Kelsey is a four year member of FFA and has been a counselor for the SMS Outdoor Ed Program.
Kelsey is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a four year member of the Godparent’s program.
She has been employed in the summer at Illinois Foundation Seed Inc. and Sloup Detasseling.
Her “Service Above Self” involvement includes working at numerous children and youth track camps in the summer and assisting with area wrestling tournaments. She is an active member of her class and participated in various activities for her class during homecoming and concessions. She has also served and participated in numerous FFA community service activities.
Kelsey plans to attend Doane College in Crete and eventually attend medical school and become a pharmacist.
The Seward Rotary Club recognizes one student at Seward High each month that has demonstrated the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Student applications are in the high school counselor’s office. Each student will be recognized in May at the SHS Honors night and presented with a book scholarship. One will be selected for the Seward Rotary Club annual “Service Above Self” scholarship.
