SHS Students Place at the Leadership Speech Contest in Lincoln
SHS Juniors, Sam Brauer and Jimmy Steinauer were both selected finalists and award recipients in the recent Leadership Speech Contest sponsored by the Nebraska State Government Chapter of the National Management Association (NMA) on Wednesday, February 09, 2011. The six finalists and guest were honored at a noon luncheon at the Lincoln/Lancaster Health Department Building, followed by the speech competition on the theme of leadership.
Sam Brauer was selected first runner-up in the contest with his speech “Leadership Qualities” and Jimmy Steinauer was awarded second runner-up in the contest with his presentation “Leadership Today.” Both young men were presented certificates and savings bonds from the Nebraska State Government Chapter of the NMA. They were accompanied to the event by their fathers. Seward High educator, Clark Kolterman is their speech coach.
Schools represented in the finals included Lincoln Southwest, Seward, Raymond Central and Aurora. The representative from Lincoln Southwest won the competition and will represent Nebraska at the Atlanta national program.
