Daniel Pfeiffer Selected April Youth Rotarian of the Month 2011

Daniel Pfeiffer, Seward High Senior, was selected the April, 2011 Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month and honored by the Seward Rotary Club on Wednesday, April 6th at the Jones National Bank and Trust Auditorium during their weekly luncheon meeting.  He was recognized and honored for his leadership and volunteerism.  Daniel is the son of Don and Angela Pfeiffer of Beaver Crossing Nebraska.

 

He was a very involved young man at Seward High School.  He participated in the SHS One Act Plays for four years and was selected to be part of the competition one act this year, being named an “Outstanding Actor” at the NSAA B-3 District One Act Contest.  He participated in the VFW Oratorical Speech Contest for two years and won the local contest over 75 other speeches, was the District VFW Oratorical champion and placed 5th in the State Oratorical Contest. 

 

He is a past member of the SHS Symphonic Band and SHS Pep Band.  He was a leader in the annual SHS Math Day contests and activities.  He was a member of the SHS Academic Decathlon competition.

 

Daniel was named the captain of the 2011 SHS Speech team and participated with the Speech team for three years.  His events this year were persuasive speaking and drama team.  He was a district medalist and won the NSEA Academic All State Award in Speech.  He also participated in the annual SHS “Poetry Out Loud” contest for two years.

 

Daniel is a leader on the SHS Quiz Bowl team and served as the Captain for the A Team for SHS quiz bowl competitions.   He was selected an SHS Fine Arts Youth of the Month and an SHS Student of the Month.

 

Daniel is a leader and four year member of the SHS Key Club and participated in numerous Key Club activities-especially involved in the annual “Multi-Cultural Fair.”  He is a leader in the SHS National Honor Society and always on the SHS Honor Roll.

 

Daniel is involved in his church, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward and active in the local youth program and Godparent program, along with their annual “Spirit Auction.”

 

Daniel plans to attend Park University in Parkville, Missouri and has received a full scholarship of tuition and room and board.  He hopes to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and eventually an advanced degree in Library Science.

 

Daniel was presented information on Rotary and a book scholarship by the club, sponsored by Clark and Linda Kolterman and Brian and Laurie Friedrich.

 

Daniel’s “Service Above Self” volunteerism activities revolved around helping youth, specifically through Key Club activities and other area events involving youth adults.  He served as the “Images of Greatness” tech aid and co-instructor for the last three years. 

 

Daniel is a finalist for the annual Seward Rotary Club “Service Above Self” award and will be honored on May 6th at the annual SHS Honors Night.
