Constructive and Destructive Forces

Our Earth's surface features are made from constructive and destructive forces.  Constructive forces are forces that "build," while destructive forces are forces that "destroy."

Look at the following list of forces.  Identify if they are constructive or destructive.

1.  Mountains

2.  Wind Erosion

3.  Volcanoes

4.  Earthquakes

5. Water

Pick one of the above forces, and describe why you identified it as constructive or destructive.

1. Water- Destructive because it can cut through lots of things and weather/erode it away. It is also constructive because it gives plants and other animals water to drink from and gives them a place to live.

Wind erosion is destructive. The wind is constantly pushing against the rocks, which makes them not as strong.

1. Mountain is constructive 2. Destructive 3. Constructive 4. Destructive 5. Destructive Mountain is constructive because when two plates come together they "build" or "construct" mountains instead of destroying other things.

Mountains- when two tectonic plates colide the land doesn't subduct and it hits together and creates mountains because the land is going on top on the other land and it creates a mountain.

1. Constructive 2. Destructive 3. Constructive 4. Destructive 5. Destructive I think volcanoes could be both because pressure from the mountains and the earth forms it so it's constructive and it could also be destructive cause it causes a lot of damage after it erupts.

Volcanoes- Valcanoes are constructive because when they erupt the lava is hot but when it cools down, the lava turns into islands or other moutanis things. Volcanoes are also destructive because when they erupt the lava can kill people.

Earthquakes-Destructive It is destructive because earthquakes destroy buildings, streets, ect. Earthquakes only last about a minute but they do a lot of damage.

1-C Because it's 2 plates colliding and then they build up. 2-D Because the wind destroys things in it's path. 3-C Because they make up islands like the Hawaiian islands. 4-D Because they transform and cause a big vibration. 5-D Because it ruins things in human nature and built by humans.
