SHS One Act Rated Superior at the Central Conference Play Production Contest

The SHS One Act Play, “Cinderella Shakespeare,” by Lindsey Craig was rated Superior and four of the actresses in the play received “Outstanding Acting” awards/recognition by the judges at the Central Conference Play Production Contest on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at York High School.  Recognized for their outstanding performance were Seniors Jaclyn Pennington as Cinderella and Andrea von Kampen as the wicked Aunt Bragonia, along with the evil cousins of Cinderella, Sophomores Makenzie Hemphill and Amanda Owens.  The play was ranked sixth of the nine competing plays.  York High won the play production contest and Schuyler High placed second.

Seward High will compete at the NSAA District Play Production Competition on Friday, December 2 at 2:45 pm at David City High School.  The winning play qualifies for the NSAA State Play Production competition.  Schools competing with Seward at the NSAA B-3 District include Crete High, York High, David City High, Wahoo High, Milford High, Raymond Central, Seward and Fillmore Central.

The director of the Seward play is Clark Kolterman, assisted by Concordia University student director Nick  Lee of rural Goehner, NE.

Schools participating in the Central Conference contest included York High, Seward High, Crete High, Aurora High, Central City High, Grand Island Northwest, Schuyler, Holdrege and Columbus Lakeview. Fairbury High did not participate.
