Beth Bohuslavsky Honored as Youth Rotarian of the Month in Seward
SHS Senior, Beth Bohuslavsky of Dwight, was honored as the February Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month at the Feb. 1, 2012 weekly, luncheon meeting of the Seward Rotary Club at the Jones National Bank and Trust Auditorium in Seward. The senior is the daughter of Don and Carol Bohuslavsky and has one sister and two brothers. She was introduced and honored by the club, presented mementos and information about the Seward Rotary Club and Rotary International, and named a finalist for the Seward Rotary Club’s “Service Above Self” scholarship. Questions and answers followed the presentation.
Beth is an involved athlete and scholar at Seward High School. She has been a member of the SHS Honor Roll every quarter of her high school career and a leader in the Seward High National Honor Society. She was named to the Academic All State in Softball and Basketball in 2010 and 2011 and was the selected representative from SHS to receive the US Cellular Cup.
She is a longtime member of the SHS Student Council, a member of Key Club and FFA and an involved leader in FCCLA, serving as a vice-president for two years. Beth is a class officer and was selected SHS Student of the Month twice.
This scholar is also an athlete and has been involved in the SHS Softball program for all four years, winning the State Runner-Up title in 2009, and receiving the All-State Honorable Mention her Junior year, second team All Central Conference her Sophomore year and name First Team All-Central Conference her Junior Year.
Beth is a leader on the SHS Track team, participating when the team won the State Runner-Up Class B title in 2009 and has been a state medalist in track both in 2010 and 2011.
She has been involved in the SHS Girls’ Basketball program all four years and her team has not lost a game during her years in high school! Her team won the Class B Girl’s State Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011-three years in a row! Individually, she was recognized as All-State Honorable Mention her Junior year, named to the Second Team-All Central Conference her Sophomore Year and named First Team All-Central Conference her Junior year.
Her employment during the summer month include child care and working with the Summer Recreation Program. She also coaches in the City Recreation Youth Basketball Program.
Beth is very involved in the area of “Service Above Self” and has served as volunteer through the three service groups she holds memberships in at Seward High. Beth has been an active volunteer in numerous young girl’s athletic camps, serving as a role model and counselor. She was a leader in the recent Community Clean-Up Campaign/ Recycling Day in Seward and especially enjoys being a volunteer with young children at the Seward Elementary School, as a teacher assistant.
She is a member of the Plum Creek 4-H Club and enjoys “showing” cattle and swine at the county fair. Beth is a member of the Dwight Assumption Catholic Church and active in the church youth group, along with her leadership role in the area’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Beth plans to attend Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and major in elementary eduction, with a minor in Special Education and coaching. She will play basketball while in college at Fort Hayes.
A student is Seward High Senior is recognized every month during school as the “Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month” through nomination forms that are available in the counselor’s office.
