Seward High School Speech Team Competes in David City Speech Contest
The Seward High School Speech Team competed in the recent, annual David City High School Speech Contest at David City High School on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The five students from the team medaled at the meet and the team won a total of 23 placement ribbons at the tourney. The five medalists from Seward high included Zach Bruick placing Fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking, Josh George placing Fourth in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking, Hayli Frosheiser placing Sixth in Informative Speaking-Novice Division, Hannah Moody and Sianna Dyell placing Second in Duet-Novice Division.
Students participating included Zach Bruick, Carl Heinicke, Josh George, Alyssa Sleight, Hayli Froshesier, Sierra Wignall, Jaclyn Pennington, Brandon O’Dell, Micah Moravec, Hannah Moody, Sarah Moody, Shelby Lewis, Wyatt Dybdal, Ian Hendrickson, Allison Leising, Taylor Grendell, Emily Siebranbt, Cale Miller, Matt Wonderlich, and Nicole Canning.
Clark Kolterman is the SHS Speech coach.
The Seward volunteer judges for David City included Todd Pennington, Jimmy Reynolds, Dayna Svoboda, Matt Honeycutt, Sarah Garbers and Clark Kolterman.
Omaha’s Bownell Talbot won the tourney, followed by Omaha’s Skutt and Filmore-Central. Battle Creek High School and Arlinton High won the novice division. There were 34 schools participating in the David City Tourney including Omaha’s Bownell Talbot, Battle Creek, Filmore Central, Grand Island Central Catholic, Omaha Skutt, Aquinas of David City, Bishop Neumann, Columbus Lakeview, Columbus Scotus, Osceola, Wayne, Nebraska Lutheran, North Bend, Cross County, Schuyler, O’Neill, Shelby-Rising City, Columbus High, Arlington, Fairbury, High Plains, Logan View, Yutan, Wahoo, Cedar Bluffs, East Butler, Waverly, Fremont Bergan, Stanton, Yutan, Oakland-Craig and Seward.
