SEWARD ELEMENTARY PTO MEETING

April 15, 2013

Members present: 14 parents, 2 teachers, Mrs. Daws, Mrs.

Meeting was called to order by President Erika Kratochvil. Minutes of the 3/18/13 meeting were reviewed. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the minutes of the 3/18/13 meeting.

President: Pictures were sorted and will be distributed. Medal for Title 1 teachers and thank you.
VP Report: Thank you’s from 2
nd grade class for field trip & Reading Classic.
Treasurers Report: Sue reviewed the Treasurer’s Report from March 19 – April 15, 2013. Total Assets as of April 15, 2013 were $29,092.12. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the Treasurer’s report.
Principals Report: Introduction of new principal Jessica Dominy. PTO purchase Smartboards? Working on the budget for next year. Monitoring the enrollment numbers for next year’s Kindergarten class. Monday May 20 will be Kindergarten graduation.

Committee Reports:

Box Tops: Currently at $3,214.10 after March; May 9th – Theater available for reward. Licensing fee $200. Snack pack $3 per kid. A motion made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the $200 licensing fee and purchase of snack pack. 3rd Grade currently in lead at $799. Discussion to substitute book for another prize. It was decided to purchase a book from the scholastic dollars. A Fall Book Fair is available in addition to the Spring Book Fair.

Book Fair: $10,597.99 grand total. Current balance 6495.45 in scholastic dollars. Smartboard cost $2,199. $2,097.45 balance if purchase 2 smartboards. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the purchase of 2 smartboards through scholastic dollars.
Staff Appreciation: The committee is working on the staff appreciation.

Unfinished (old) Business:

Class Pictures: Currently distributing the pictures.

New Business:

Calendar Magnets: For the 2013-2014 school year. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the purchase of magnets for each student.
KFOR Cards: Summer Fun Punch Tickets available for $5. Information will be distributed . We receive all the proceeds. Special Requests: 8 Smartboards needed to complete current classboards. The PTO will purchase 3 additional smartoards $1,477. A motion was made, seconded, and approved per board.; Speech classrooms currently have chalkboards. Requesting whiteboards for 2 rooms. 5x4, 6x4 boards. Quote $443.45 total cost for both boards. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve up to $450 for the purchase of white boards.; 1
st grade field trip May 10th to the Henry Doorly Zoo. Approximate cost for field trip is $555.50 and $210 for sponsors. Total $765. A motion was made, seconded, and passed by all to approve the cost of $765 for the 1st grade fieldtrip.

Announcements:

Events happening in the community: Hockey playoff tickets available at Wal-Mart thru Saturday. Proceeds to Children’s Hospital in Omaha.; Middle School PTO Officer Elections in May.
