SHS Speech Team Places Third At NSAA Districts

The SHS Speech Team Placed Third at the NSAA District Speech contest, qualifying Alexa Bruick in two events-Persuasive Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking.A total of 13 students won 19 medals in the nine events.Winning medals at Districts included Alexa Bruick-2nd Persuasive, 3rd Extemp, Ian Hendrickson-4th Duet, 6th Drama Team, Wyatt Dybdal-4th Duet, 6th Drama Team, Hannah Moody-5th Duet, 5th Drama Team, Makenzie Hemphill-5th Duet, Hailey Brown- 5th Poetry, Evan Marshall-5th Drama Team, Jake Marshall-5th Drama Team, Chase Nissen-5th Drama Team, Kyle Glandt-6th Drama Team, Alyssa Winterfeld-6th Drama Team, Sienna Dyell-6th Drama Team and Levi Dybdal-6th Entertaining, 5th Humorous Prose.Columbus Lakeview won the tourney, followed by Wayne High and then Seward came in third.

Students recognized with Superior ratings included Alexa Bruick, Chase Nissen, Hannah Moody, Makenzie Hemphill, Wyatt Dybdal, Ian Hendrickson, Alyssa Winterfeld, Sienna Dyell, Kyle Glandt, Evan Marshall, Jake Marshall, Levi Dybdal, Kyler Nolan, Montana Hill, Hailey Brown, Austin Van Velson, Will Helmer and Emma Orwen.

Alexa Bruick will compete at the State Speech Contest at University of Nebraska at Kearney on Thursday, March 27th in both Persuasive and Extemporaneous Speaking.

Clark Kolterman is the Speech Coach for Seward High.

Schools in Seward’s Speech District include Columbus Lakeview, Wayne, Seward, Schuyler, Pierce, Wahoo, Columbus Scotus, and West Point/Beemer.
