SHS Competes in Omaha Bryan High Quiz Bowl Tourney
Launch the media gallery 1 playerTwo SHS teams-a Novice Team and a Varsity Team competed at the recent major Quiz Bowl tourney at Omaha Bryan High School on Saturday, November 9, 2014. They were sponsored by the School District of Seward High Ability Learner Program (HAL) and the School District of Seward.
The teams consisted of Varsity Team-Will Helmer-Captain, Ben Galusha, Grace Orwen and Makenna Aldrich. The Novice Team included Captain Chris Galusha, Kevin Lyons, Molly Newburn, Greta Hughes, Chase Prochnow and Nolan Homp. Clark Kolterman served as their advisor/coach/sponsor.
The teams competed in the morning Round Robin contest-playing three teams in a warm up session, with the wins and losses and points generated determining their afternoon placement. The Quiz Bowl was on General Knowledge. In the afternoon they participated in a single elimination tourney.
Teams participating included Omaha Bryan HS, Columbus HS, Omaha Creighton Prep, Elkhorn HS, Elkhorn South, Lincoln High, Lincoln East, Norris, Omaha Christian, Seward, Omaha Westside, Woodbine Iowa HS, Arlington HS, Papillion-Lavista, Papillion Lavista South, Ralston, Platteview, Thomas Jefferson-Council Bluffs, Iowa HS, and Lincoln Southwest.
