SHS Junior, Julya Metschke Wins Annual State Fair Brad Fossberg Award
Launch the media gallery 1 playerSeward High School Junior, Julya Metschke, won the top individual award at the Nebraska State Fair Eduction Division’s presentation Division-capturing the Brad Fossberg Award for overall Outstanding Presentation at the Nebraska State Fair for 2022.
Julya Metschke participated and won First Place with the Improv Team, with the Impromptu Speaking Division, and with the Public Speaking Category. She also and Second in the High School Quiz Bowl contest, and Third in the Community Service Division.
Presenting her the award was the wife of the late Brad Fossberg - Mrs Jeanne Fossberg. She annually donates the trophy to recognize an outstanding student presenter.
The late Brad Fossberg had been a loyal judge and volunteer to the Nebraska State Fair Education Division and often was called upon to judge the live presentations during the State Fair with a variety of presentation categories. This trophy is to recognize outstanding presentations and also serves as a memorial to longtime volunteer judge –Brad Fossberg.
Julya is the daughter of Amy and Jon Metschke of rural Seward.
