Brenna McAdam is the April Youth Rotarian

Seward High Senior, Brenna McAdam was selected to be honored as the April Youth Rotarian by the Seward Rotary Club and was introduced at the Seward Rotary Club’s noon luncheon on April 19th at the Jones Bank Auditorium. She is the daughter of Jill McAdam of Seward. 

Academics are important to Brenna, as she has a 3.8 GPA and been a member of the SHS Honor Roll 15 times during her high school career. She is a leader in the SHS National Honor Society and has won eight P.R.I.D.E Awards for dedication, respect and integrity over the four years of high school. She has taken dual enrollment classes, while at SHS and is presently enrolled in two classes at Southeast Community College-Career Academy Marketing and Career Academy Public Speaking, both through the Career Academy Partnership. She is a qualified Microsoft Office User Specialist through her classes at SHS. 

She enjoys music and performing and has been a leader in the SHS Show Choir for the last three years. She has also been part of the Seward High Musical Production for three years of high school as well. 

Brenna is a longtime leader in the Seward High Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and currently serves as the Vice President of the local SHS FBLA Chapter. She has been involved in a host of FBLA activities both on the local level and at the State FBLA Conference, and has been a two-time national qualifier. 

She is a member of the SHS Leadership Team (Student Council) and involved in both the Hope Squad for the last two years through a school election selection and also an active member of the “Acts of Kindness” Club at SHS. She serves as one of the Social Media Interns for Classroom Intercom and has been part of that program for the last three years. 

Brenna has been a member of the SHS Cheerleading Team for the last three years and currently serves as the Co-Captain. She is also a four year member of the SHS Dance Team and has enjoyed having Creative Dance Movement Assistant Teacher training through her job at a local dance studio. 

She is employed at Seward Dowding Municipal Pool both in the office and as a lifeguard, Bagels and Joe as a clerk/helper and the William Henry School of the Arts as an Assistant Dance Teacher. She is Red Cross/CPR/ First Aid certified and has a Food Handler’s License. 

Brenna attends St. Vincent de Paul church, and is a member of their Godparents Group. 

Her “Service Above Self” volunteer hours center around the many SHS Cheer Kids Clinics and Concessions, the SHS Dance Team Kid’s Clinics and Concession work and her hours being part of the volunteer efforts and projects of the SHS FBLA. She also volunteers for the SHS Friends of Choral Music, the various “Bluejay Community Day” work programs and various projects at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward. 

Her plans after graduation from SHS include attending Rockhurst University in Kansas City, majoring in Film Arts, and minoring in Marketing, as well as being a student-athlete for their Spirit Squad. 

Brenna was recognized and thanked for her successful career at SHS and serving as a role model for many over the years at Seward High. She was presented with a bag of Rotary information and mementos, a Rotary Book Scholarship and a special Rotary Club banner. She will again be recognized at the SHS Honors Day in May. The Seward Rotary Club honored ten SHS students with the Youth Rotarian award this year and will name one the Seward Rotary Youth Rotarian of the Year.
