Micah Hackbart is Named February Youth Rotarian by Seward Rotary Club

SHS Senior, Micah Hackbart was selected the February Youth Rotarian by the Seward Rotary Club and honored at the recent Feb. 22, 2023 noon luncheon meeting of the Seward Rotary Club.  He is the son of Dr. Daryl and Susan Hackbart of Seward.  He was recognized at the luncheon by Rotarian Anita Foor-Seward Rotary Club President elect.

Micah is an honor student/ and a three sport athlete at Seward High.

Micah has been a member on the SHS Honor Roll nine terms, with a GPA of 3.7.  He has been enrolled in numerous AP classes and dual credit classes while at Seward High.  He enjoys announcing the SHS news each morning –welcoming students and reading the school bulletin.

He was an involved leader on the SHS Football Team, earning a Varsity letter for three years and assisted in qualifying the team for the State Playoffs!  He was recognized and honored with various football awards relating to his career in football at Seward High. He was selected to represent SHS at the 2023 Shrine Bowl Game to be played in June at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Micah was part of the SHS Basketball program since 2019 until this year, dropping basketball to focus on his weight lifting program.  He was a point guard for the SHS Bluejays.  He was also a member of the SHS Men’s Golf team for a year and moved to become a leader on the SHS Track Team the last two years!

In the Future Business Leaders of America (SHS FBLA), Micah has been a member since 2019 and is considered one of the club’s leaders and mentors, and is preparing to be part of the State FBLA Conference Competitions for the year.  He also serves on the high school’s BlueJay Leadership Team (BLT) and enjoys being able to showcase Seward High to guests and visitors, as well as offer student insight to the administration. 

Micah is a member of the Hillcrest E Free Church in Seward and very involved with their youth group and is also a member of the local SHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) program. 

He plans to attend Wayne State College in the Pre-Chiropractic program and is looking forward to being on the Wayne State Football team this fall.

His “Service Above Self” volunteer effort centers on volunteering for the New Orleans Mission Trip, working various SHS Middle School BB Tourney’s and Football Camps, serving as an Algebra Mentor, working with Vacation Bible School and helping with the “Truck and Treat!”

He was recognized and thanked and presented with mementos from the Seward Rotary Club.  He was presented with a Book Scholarship and is a finalist for the Seward Rotary Youth Rotarian of the Year.

The Seward Youth Rotarian is selected monthly by a panel of Rotarians, and applications are located in the SHS Counselor’s office.
