Breakfast with Santa a Success-Co Sponsored by the Seward Rotary Club and SHS FCCLA - 2023

The annual Seward Seward Rotary Club and Seward High’s FCCLA Chapter’s Breakfast with Santa was a success, with a basement of children and families in attendance for the holiday festivities at the Seward Civic Center on Saturday, December 16th, 2023.  The Seward Rotary Club hosted the area residents with a breakfast of donuts, fruit, candy, juice and milk.  They were assisted by members of the Seward High Family Community Career Leaders of America Chapter (FCCLA).

Featured entertainment was group singing led by Seward Rotary member Clark Kolterman-who also served as the Emcee for the program. “FCCLA Mom’s” Amy Metschke served as cashier for the event.

Many prizes were shared through a drawing for all present and the high light of the event was a visit from Santa Claus.  Guests with December birthdays and out of town guests were also recognized and honored with gifts from the Seward Rotary Club.  All there “won” a special Christmas book, promoting The Seward Rotary Literacy Campaign.

SHS FCCLA member Adya Metschke-Co-Chairman of the event for FCCLA, with Clark Kolterman serving as the Chairman for the Rotary Club.

FCCLA Chapter President, Julya Metschke, coordinated the ticket drawings.   Rotarian Greg Zabka called the North Pole and made sure Santa and Mrs. Santa could attend the breakfast, coordinating the visit of the Christmas couple.   FCCLA members participating in the event and volunteered to distribute the remaining food stuffs from the SHS FCCLA/Rotary Club’s Breakfast.

The Rotary Club and SHS FCCLA sponsored many giveaway prizes to promote literacy, with the giving of a variety of Christmas books and books with Christmas themes.  They also gave away in drawings, special, and Christmas themed stuffed animals.  The final drawing was for a special, giant “stuffed” Gnome named “Rotary Ron!”

SHS FCCLA members assisted in planning, serving the treats at the annual Seward Breakfast with Santa and assisted with preparation, organization and set up, along with the clean-up process with the Rotarians.
