Avery Rodocker Selected as November Seward Youth Rotarian of the Month

At its November 12, 2025 club meeting, the Seward Rotary Club recognized Seward High School senior, Avery Rodocker, as the Youth Rotarian of the Month. Avery is the daughter of Tony and Sarah Rodocker. Youth Rotarians of the Month are selected based on their service, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship efforts during high school. They receive a book scholarship for college and a bag of information about Seward. Monthly Youth Rotarians are also finalists for the Seward Youth Rotarian of the Year award which will be presented at the annual SHS Honors Night.

Avery boasts an outstanding 4.17 GPA and is a student who is active and engaged in her school, community, and place of work. She has completed Advanced Placement coursework in Human Geography, Calculus, Environmental Science, Biology, US History, and Statistics. She has also been on the Honor Roll during all terms since the fall of 2022.

Avery is very active in school and community activities including SkillsUSA, the Musical, Show Choir, Key Club, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Unified Bowling, Girls Bowling, One Act, Seward High Ambassadors, and Godparents. She has held many leadership roles in her activities including serving as the 25-26 student body president, being a 4-year dance captain, being a 2-time state champion in SkillsUSA’s Customer Service competitive event, earning Academic All-State, and earning an Outstanding Actor Award.

In addition to these student activities, Avery has been involved in local and state-level opportunities to lead with her skills and student input. Locally, our community has benefitted from her role as the Student Representative on the District Strategic Plan Committee for the school, serving as the Student Advisor on the Seward Public Schools Board of Education, and serving as the High School Student Representative on the Seward Revitalize and Thrive Action Team.

At the state level, Avery is serving as a junior staff member for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) and as staff in training for Launch Leadership.

Avery has more than 135 hours of documented service in the Seward area. She has served at the Matt Talbot Kitchen, Seward United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School, Bluejay Way Community Service Day, Outdoor Education, and Homecoming Hallway Decorating. Much of her service includes leading groups of other people to help them achieve learning and success.

In addition to her service, academic, and leadership excellence, Avery has worked for B’s Sweet Freeze, as a child care and pet care provider, and she currently works at Crouch’s Farm and Hardware.

Avery plans to study pharmacy at the University of Kansas in Lawrence following graduation in May 2026.

The Seward Rotary Club wishes the best to Avery and all area seniors; and the club encourages each of them to embrace opportunities to serve others locally and around the world with their specific gifts and interests.
